ENQ793 - Vending Machine Provider (#REQ-5491)
Springwood Leisure Centre requires a vending service to provide refreshment and re-fuelling for its gym members. The vending revenue will also provide an important revenue and profit stream for the service area.
Stores Road requires a vending service to provide a subsidised hot drinks service to its employees. This agreement has been brought about by union negotiation. Stores Road employees are working outdoors in all weather conditions and need access to a provision of hot drinks. Snacks and cold drinks are also available however these are not subsidised.
The previous supply agreement was with GEM Vending who were subsequently sold to Selecta.
Selecta have provided a very poor service into Springwood and Stores Road. The leisure centre had its machines withdrawn without notice and Stores Road have received no service for repairs to damaged machines.
In September 2020, Selecta wrote to Derby City Council advising that they were withdrawing service due to staff shortages/issues around the impact of the pandemic. We are currently out of contract to our vending supplier and see this as an opportunity to review the contract with a view to achieving better value for money and better service.
Springwood Leisure Centre will lease new machines from a newly sourced provider on a self-managed contract together with a service agreement that will see the machines maintained over the life of the agreement. The leisure centre staff will purchase stock and fill the machines themselves with cash revenues being reconciled on site and banked within the service area. Card payments will be paid directly to the service area via a third party- Nayax.
Stores Road will operate with a fully managed service where all profits from the sales of snacks and cold drinks will be retained by the vending provider. Hot drinks will be subsidised at 20p and this will be paid for from the profits of hot drinks/rental of the machines. There will be a service agreement in place that will see the machines maintained over the life of the rental agreement. Card payments would be made direct to the vending provider via a third party Nayax.
